Power Seats: Initial Inspection
This question reminds us of the importance of an initial inspection. Finding something jammed into the seat track during an initial inspection can save a lot of time and trouble. This is not good for the electrical motor or linkage though. This is the first place to look, and the most likely choice.
An intermittent open like a wire burned inside of its insulation, or a loose plug would result in on and off operation, or no operation at all. A short to ground is a circuit that has allowed current to bypass its intended path, and would most likely burn the fuse in the circuit. An open would result in no motor noise heard when the switch is pressed. The short must be found and repaired before installing a new fuse. If it is not repaired the fuse will just blow again.
